When you attend a Polyarmory event, you’ll find that we run things a little differently from many polyamory-centered groups. That’s because we’re trying to create a very specific type of community, and it’s not for everyone.
Also make sure to check out our Community Culture and Conduct Policy.
Our Campsites
We go to a variety of campsites, depending on group needs and member requests. Check in the specific event’s information on Facebook for details about the campgrounds.
Typically, we do primitive/walk-in campsites (no electricity or RV pads) with a large row of firepits in a central common area and then lots of space for everyone to set up their tents.
What do I need to bring to Polyamory Camp?
Camping Gear – This varies from person to person: you need to bring whatever you need to camp happily for several days. Some campsites provide showers and other amenities. We have an example packing list to get you started here.
If there’s something you don’t have and would like to borrow, or if you have extras you’re willing to share, post in the group.
Firewood – Everyone should bring firewood to share in the communal fires. In past years, 2-3 bundles per person was a good start for the weekend, but more is always better.
Food and Drinks – We often organize a potluck dinner for one night of the campout, but you’re responsible for making sure you have the food and drinks you need.
Electricity and Amplified Sound
We started out as a camping clan for the Texas Renaissance Festival, and we still like to keep some of that vibe. We also want to be sure our campout is a chill environment for all of our members, including neurodivergent members with various sensory needs.
No Bright Lights After Dark
We ask that you leave any electric lights (other than low-level decorative twinkle lights) off after dark unless actively using them for a specific task. We want to enjoy the fire and stars.
No Amplified Sound
We also ask that you do not bring any amplified or recorded audio. Instead, if you want music, bring a guitar!
No Fuel-Powered Generators
In the same vein, we do not allow fuel-powered or motorized generators. If you use a CPAP or have other similar electrical needs, ask in the group: many of our members use battery-based or solar-charged options for CPAP and would be happy to share about their setup!
Furry Friends
If our location allows dogs, you are more than welcome to bring yours, as long as they’re vaccinated, well-behaved (including barking), and comply with any site guidelines. You will need to keep them with you at all times.
Please Avoid Puppy Trip Hazards
We ask that dogs stay next to/under the owner’s chair or in a crate between chairs, and that they not be between people and the firepits or otherwise in walkways after dark. A glow stick on the collar can be very helpful in making sure puppies don’t turn into tripping hazards!
Control Barking
If your dog barks a lot, barks frequently at noises or people they don’t know, or has incontinence issues, this might not be the right event for them. If a dog is barking without stopping or otherwise acts aggressively, you may be asked to take them home.
